Scouts are Resiliient

Published Wed 25 Mar 2026

Ever wondered what makes young people truly resilient?
The latest Resilient Youth Survey shows that Scouts are thriving – and the results are something to celebrate!

By comparing thousands of young people across Australia, the survey found that Scouts score an average of 7% higher across key wellbeing measures than their peers. That means the fun, muddy boots, campfires, teamwork, and leadership happening every week are doing something really powerful.

Scouts feel more connected, protected, and respected. They’re more confident, better at problem‑solving, and more likely to help others. They enjoy life more, cope better with challenges, and even spend less time on devices overnight (yes, really).

Why? Because in Scouts, young people learn by doing. They camp in the rain, cook their own meals, lead activities, and work with people of all ages and backgrounds. They’re encouraged to try new things, face challenges head‑on, and support one another along the way.

The survey also highlights big wins for teenagers, especially Venturer Scouts, who feel more connected at school, more hopeful about the future, and better equipped to balance study, friendships, and wellbeing.

Put simply: Scouting isn’t just fun – it’s transformational.
It helps young people grow into confident, capable humans who believe in themselves and care about others.

And that’s an advantage that lasts well beyond the campsite.
